Acclaim
“The middle child of Yalumba's Tawny trio, this coffee-colored fortified shows its age more prominently than the 21-year-old. It emphasizes dusty library notes in combination with truffle, roasted walnut, coffee bean and faint whiffs of dried stone fruit and caramel. The palate is beautifully balanced, less viscous than its younger counterpart but also a touch less characterful. The nutty, dried fruit flavors mingle with the sweetness and alcohol, lingering in the mouth long after the wine is gone.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Apr 2020
“Thick and viscous, built around a core of black walnut liqueur flavors. Shows precision to the cinnamon, blood orange and molasses details, while a threat of acidity keeps the flavors fresh and not cloying.”
— Wine Spectator, Apr 2020

Wine Production

The grapes were fermented on skins for several days then fortified with fine brandy spirit, distilled through Yalumba’s very own still. During the ageing process, between 2-3% of the wine will evaporate each year, also known as the ‘angel’s share’. Combined with maturation over 30 years, the resultant wines are rich and concentrated, and meticulously blended to produce this aged tawny.
