Just 20 miles south of Adelaide in South Australia, McLaren Vale has a Mediterranean climate, perfect for growing the best Shiraz; full of color, flavor and structure.This Shiraz is from the Pieri Family 25 year old Vineyard in the hills between McLaren Flat and Kangarilla; these old vines are hand harvested and made using traditional techniques. The wine is matured in oak and sent to West Cape Howe Wine for finishing, fining, blending and bottling by Vinaceous.
The grapes were hand harvested and opened fermented with 10% whole bunches. They were then hand plunged for eight to 12 days in one and two tone open fermenters, then gently basket pressed into new 25% oak barrels (French and American) to finish fermentation. Maturation took place for 14 to 16 months in the same oak.
