Just 20 miles south of Adelaide in South Australia, McLaren Vale has a Mediterranean climate, perfect for growing the best Shiraz; full of color, flavor and structure. It is blended with classic, old vine McLaren Vale Grenache contributing its heady perfume and sweet fruit mid-palate. Bringing the wine together is a small dollop of intense, savory Tempranillo from the Wilyabrup subregion of Margaret River in Western Australia.
The grapes were hand-picked and open fermented, with 10% whole bunches. The Shiraz and Grenache parcels were basket pressed into 25% new oak barrels (French and American) to finish fermentation. Maturation took place for 12 months in the same oak, then vinified and blended with Tempranillo addition.
Deep crimson red, bright and vibrant hues meet aromas of mixed ripe berry fruits. Rich fruit fullness greets the palate with a complex finish and mature tannins.
