Acclaim
“Vivid deep straw yellow. Initially oaky nose offers an almost overpowering note of vanilla. Opens slowly, but not entirely, with aeration to reveal aromas of ripe pear, white peach, menthol, nutmeg, licorice and minerals. Concentrated and chewy, showing a mineral quality to the fresh peach, smoky and sweet spice flavors. Tactile and dense, this really saturates the palate on the rich, suave, pliant and very long finish. Unlike the 2006, this still hasn’t (yet?) lost its vanillin element that is still very present, especially on the nose; but this ripe, rich, lusciously styled Pinot Grigio manages to stand up to its sweet, spicy oaky flourish extremely well and doesn’t come across as especially over the top.”
— Ian D’Agata, Mar 2017
The 2007 Pinot Grigio Unterebner caresses the palate with a richly-textured core of perfumed fruit. This elegant, refined white offers terrific length on the palate and lovely balance. The wine spends seven months in oak of various sizes which gives the wine much of its richness and body.
