Tokaji Aszús 6 Puttonyos 2004

With this wine, the wine-making really begins on the vine. The aim here is to achieve the highest quality possible, and to this end, only specially selected premier quality aszú berries. Once the base wine is ready, 150 kg of aszú berries are added for every 136 liters of base wine. That mixture is then macerated, after which, the aszú berries are gently pressed before the wine is transferred into oak barrels, where it matures for three years.

Tasting Notes

Deep golden yellow in color, with a pretty orange tinge at the rim. Aromas of dried fruits, orange jam, quince, cinnamon, vanilla oak and honey are found on the nose. The acidity is nicely balanced and the wine has a pleasantly long finish.

Food Pairing

Tokaji Aszú is not just something to drink with a starter. It will go magnificently with many courses. Especially anything with a sweet and sour sauce or with spicy foods that have curry, ginger or cardamom.
