Wine Description

Acclaim
“We will remember 2016 as the year the rain fell during Easter Week. Those who harvested early, concerned with grape quality, obtained tremendously refreshing wines, particularly the carménère, which, in the case of this wine, has delicious red fruit and herbal notes, a delight of freshness and energy. Those who harvested after the rain didn’t get the quality, and it ended up costing them doubly. It was a complicated year, but it produced some of the best red wines of the decade, in both Chile and Argentina.”
— Descorchados, Jun 2019
“There’s a zesty punch to the crunchy green herbal notes, which flank concentrated cherry tart and crushed red plum flavors. Peppery accents on the pure, minerally finish.”
— Wine Spectator, May 2019

Wine Production

At the beginning of May, the grapes were picked by hand and then taken to the winery where they were destemmed and placed in stainless steel tanks for a cold maceration of 3
to 4 days. The alcoholic fermentation took place between 25ºC and 26ºC during 8 to 12 days using soft extraction. Once completed, the wine underwent a post-fermentative maceration of one or two weeks. It was then placed in French oak barrels for aging, where it also made the malolactic fermentation.

About the Vineyard

The grapes come from Maule Valley, near the town of San Clemente, close to the foothills of the Andes Mountain Range. The vines are grown over clay soils of volcanic origin and some colluvial formations over a stony bed in decomposition.
