Shaw + Smith Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc bottle image

Wine Description

The core contribution in this cuvee comes from Shaw + Smith's own estate vineyards at Balhannah and Lenswood. That is complemented by fruit from a small number of highly valued growers.

After manual harvest, the Sauvignon Blanc fruit goes through a cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A short maturation on the lees adds texture and early bottling ensures freshness.

Acclaim
“This is a dignified Sauvignon Blanc that continuously reveals itself as you move from the bouquet through to the aftertaste of the palate. Initially it has classic restraint, but by the time you pick up the sweet fruit (not sugar) you realise it's the product of a vintage designed for Sauvignon Blanc.”
— James Halliday, Nov 2017
“From high elevation vineyards, where yields are kept down and the grapes are hand-picked. This features crisply-scented lemon and bell pepper aromas with a hint of apricot. It's really well balanced in the mouth, the succulent but saline citrus fruit backed up by richer hints of stone fruit and tangerine, alongside a layer of wafting herbs. Very elegant.”
— Decanter, Jan 2019
