Primitivo Puglia IGT 2004

Terre del Primitivo comes from 10 and 20 year-old vines grown around the beautiful and historic town of Lecce, in the region of Puglia. The soils have a clay and limestone composition and are perfectly suited to this native grape variety. The vines are grown in the alberello (little bunch) style, which provides low yields and excellent concentration. The harvest takes place in September, when the grapes reach optimal ripeness. After six days of maceration with skin contact to achieve brighter color and rounder structure, the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain the typical juiciness and flavor of Primitivo.

Tasting Notes

Ruby-red in color with purple reflections, Terre del Primitivo offers lush aromas of currants, licorice, pepper and spices with a medium body, soft tannins and firm structure.

Food Pairing

Terre del Primitivo pairs perfectly with sharp cheeses and spicy salami. It also goes nicely with pancetta, tomato sauce or roasted meats.
