Riesling Ried Steinriegl Federspiel bottle image

Wine Description

Franz Prager, co-founder of the Vinea Wachau, had already earned a reputation for his wines when Toni Bodenstein married into the family. Bodenstein’s passion for biodiversity and old terraces, coupled with brilliant winemaking, puts Prager in the highest echelon of Austrian producers.

Acclaim
“A ripe style, with richly textured flavors of peach, pear and dried apricot, layered with vanilla notes. Creamy accents show on the finish.”
— Wine Spectator, Jun 2015
“Enticing nose combines white peach and pink grapefruit with hyacinth and toasted almond. Light and lively on its feet, with brisk stone fruit flavors, the 2013 Steinriegl is a cool interpretation of Riesling. The long finish features nuances of sweet lime, perhaps from the silica and marble in the primary rock of the Steinriegl site. In any case, Bodenstein believes that this vineyard projects its fruit in a way quite different from the others.”
