Hondarrabi Zuri 2012

In Basque, "itsas" means "sea" and "mendi" means "mountain," as a reference to the major features of this ancient winemaking landscape. This wine is produced from 100% Hondarrabi Zuri grapes, a white variety native to the Basque area. Unlike other wines from this DO which are bottled with a little CO2 ‘spritz’, this wine offers a sophisticated taste of this unique place.

Tasting Notes

Straw-lemon in color, Itsas Mendi is a youthful, fruit-driven wine with notes of lemon drops, ripe grapefruit and more subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is crisp and expressive with a persistent and pleasantly bitter finish, typical of the grape variety.

Food Pairing

Pairs flawlessly with fresh garden and goat cheese salads, grilled seafood, salt cod or chicken fajitas.
