Wine Description

One of the pioneers of the modern Greek wine revolution, Gai’a Estate (pronounced Yay-ya) was established in 1994 by Leon Karatsalos and winemaker Yiannis Paraskevopoulos. Their mission was to capture the best that Greece’s indigenous grapes have to offer by merging traditional viticultural and production methods with innovative techniques. The estate is named after “Mother Earth,” in honor of the unique terroir that gives birth to these world-class wines.

Acclaim
“The 2021 Assyrtiko Monograph is unoaked, dry and comes in at 12.8% alcohol. This is the winery's non-Santorini Assyrtiko. It's fresh and friendly, light and easy. There's not a lot of power or concentration, but it drinks great today. It's a perfect porch-sipper in style, something that drinks well on its own. It is silky in texture and shows just bit of tension. It's worth leaning up on this today, but I doubt it will develop much. Most won't care. Drink it now or in the next year or so for best results, no matter how long it theoretically lasts.”
