Clean Slate Riesling

Riesling bottle image

Wine Description

The fresh, balanced taste of clean slate is achieved by carefully selecting grapes from vineyards throughout the Mosel. The steep blue slate slopes of the Lower Mosel give the wine its minerality while the Middle Mosel provides a hint of spice to complement the characteristic fresh peach flavors of the Upper Mosel.

RECOMMENDED: “A brunch wine if I’ve ever tasted one. I was initially a little concerned when I saw the 10.5% ABV on the label. I half-expected a thick, syrupy glassful. Thankfully, this Riesling from the Mosel region of Germany dispelled that apprehension in short order. There is some sweetness here, but it’s in the ‘honeycrisp apple’ family of sweet. Alongside the orange and peach flavors in the body is a fair amount of the mineral implied by its moniker. It finishes sweet and a tad acidic.”
— The Naked Vine, Oct 2013
RECOMMENDED: “Clean Slate Riesling from the Mosel is fruity and off dry with enough acidity to balance any sweetness. Lots of citrus, honey, apricot and white flowers and a great bargain at $10 per bottle.”
