Wine Description

The Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône Red is sourced from Syrah vines rooted deep amid the limestone and clay rich soils in the Vinsobres and Villafranchiennes du Gard vineyards of the Rhône valley. Fermented in concrete vats with natural yeasts, this Côtes du Rhône Red is exemplary of its class.

Acclaim
#43 “Ripe, with vivid blueberry and boysenberry fruit, harnessed on the back end by a bold graphite edge. Anise and violet notes add range.”
— Wine Spectator, Dec 2016
“Château de Saint Cosme is located in Gigondas, just 300 meters north of the village and is the oldest estate in Gigondas, dating back to the 15th century. This property has been in the hands of the Barruol family since 1570. The 2015 Côtes du Rhône is an absolutely sensational showing, displaying a dark and brooding color, which leads to aromatics of Provençale herbs, black cherry and cassis. Deep penetrating flavors of milk chocolate, pencil shavings and cassis give way to moderate tannins at this juncture. While simply delicious today, it would be best to allow this another year for to fully settle.”
