Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard

Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard Malbec bottle image

Wine Description

Catena Zapata Nicasia Malbec is made from a meticulous vine selection in the best, historic rows of the Catena family’s estate vineyards. These Zapata vines are carefully hand tended and produce extremely low yields. The grapes are micro-fermented in new French oak barriques and the wine is then aged for 18 months in new French oak. This wine is made in very limited quantities.

Acclaim
“Bright ruby-red. Multidimensional nose combines blackcurrant, black cherry, brown spices, bitter chocolate, minerals and licorice, all lifted by a floral topnote. Sweet, creamy and deep, yet precise and energetic in spite of its utterly silky texture. Very ripe and very primary dark fruit and spice flavors carry through to an extremely long, vibrant finish featuring lush tannins, building sweetness and kaleidoscopic spice, floral and leathery qualities. Wow!”
— International Wine Cellar, Mar 2013
"It has a complex bouquet of blackberry, crushed stone, smoke and lavender that is beautifully defined and sophisticated. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. It is extremely well-balanced, with a broody, introverted, somehow enigmatic finish that you just want to keep sipping in order to unlock its secrets. Sublime."
— Neal Martin, Oct 2012
