Caroso, name to both the wine and the hills where the grapes are grown - Contrada Caroso, is derived from “Caro,” Italian for elegant, rich and valued.  It is a tiny vineyard in the Southern part of Abruzzo with the perfect altitude and exposure for a powerful and important Montepulciano Riserva.

Location of Vineyard

Contrada Caroso, is a tiny vineyard in the southern part of Abruzzo with the perfect altitude and exposure for a powerful Montepulciano Riserva.  Grapes are grown in high altitude vineyards, at 1,100 feet above sea level, in the prime Paglieta and Pollutri districts of Abruzzo.  Winemaking process from vineyard to bottle led by world-renowned enologist Riccardo Cotarella.

Winemaking Philosophy

Hand-harvested and selected grapes, are traditionally vinified with a long maceration of the skins at controlled temperature. During the fermentation, the must is racked off and  pumped over. The wine then goes through maololactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Six months refinement in french oak casks followed by 18 months in barrique and an additional eight months in bottle prior to release.
