Blanc de Montsalvat 2009

Named after a mountain that is steeped in legends of King Arthur, this white wine is a rarity in this already rarified region—an exotic white wine from 65-year-old vines of Macabeo and the rare Trepat Blanc variety. The grapes are fermented in steel and aged for five months in new French barriques. This wine is produced in very limited quantities.

Tasting Notes

Pale gold in color, this wine offers layered aromas of white peach, apricot, toast and almonds. On the palate, Montsalvat is full-bodied, tightly structured, and bone dry, but with flavors tending to sweeter notes of honey, clove and cardamom.

Food Pairing

With its rich and evolving finish, this wine makes a great complement to flavorful grilled fish, chicken and date tajines and buttery raviolis topped with truffles and parmesan.
