Pinot Grigio/Gris & Pinot Gris-based Blends

Yalumba is Australia’s most historic family-owned winery. The Y Series collection combines authentic Australian winemaking practices with a vibrant approach inspired by modern flavors. While simple and contemporary at first sight, the bright labels show subtle layers when considered closely. Each varietal features a unique illustration symbolizing the relationship between the wine and nature.

This Pinot Grigio is a perfect example of balance, style and exceptional varietal characteristics: vibrant, light, dry and fantastic when paired with a range of different foods.

Wine Production

Whole bunch pressing is used to minimize color and tannin extraction from the pink skins, followed by oxidative handling to naturally remove any remaining color. Fermentation proceeds on full solids, utilizing yeast indigenous to the vineyard. The wines are then left on their lees until blending, giving the final wine complexity and finesse

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in color with green highlights. Aromas of fresh pear juice and white flowers with hints of feijoa and cinnamon stick. Initial flavors of cut pear and apples with jasmine, followed by baked apple and cinnamon on the mid-palate. These generous fruit flavors are complemented by a rich, creamy, lingering finish.

Food Pairing

Enjoy with pork fillet accompanied by apple and fennel or vegetable sung choi bao.

About the Vineyard

Following near perfect ripening weather, the Pinot Grigio grapes were harvested in late January through to the middle of March. The fruit for the Y Series Pinot Grigio is sourced from premium viticultural regions of South Australia. Careful hand-picking allowed the grapes to be picked at optimal ripeness.
