Tasting Notes:
Clos Apalta is a world-class wine in the Bordeaux Tradition. Carmenère is the heart of the blend of Clos Apalta. It boasts aromas of ripe berries, currants, cassis, black pepper, and licorice. A beautiful finish of black fruit, toast, leather, and chocolate underpins the palate's freshness. It is incredibly long on the finish, with an intense structure and exquisite tannins.
Varietals:
75% Carménère, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot
Clos Apalta
When Alexandra Marnier-Lapostolle purchased vineyards in Apalta in 1994, she began a pursuit of excellence that would redefine Chilean wine. Clos Apalta became an international sensation when its 2005 vintage earned Wine of the Year honors in 2008. Today, her son Charles de Bournet and winemaker Andrea Leon carry forward that legacy, refining the estate’s expression of Carmenère and its remarkable terroir with vision and precision.
“Few wineries have achieved such notoriety with Carmenère as Clos Apalta, which has made the under-the-radar grape the star of its flagship wine, earning Wine of the Year honors in 2008 with its Clos Apalta Colchagua Valley 2005.”Wine Spectator
