Winemaker Germán Bruzzone Discusses Reserva Albariño
Although we had no doubts about the potential of a place like this, in the world of wine production, until you see the final result, it is difficult to predict what the level of quality will be. And we were really surprised at how well [Albariño] has adapted to the terroir of Garzón.

Today, Albariño is not only a symbol of freshness and sophistication, but also a testament to Uruguay’s potential in producing world-class white wines—beyond its already famous reds.

All of Garzón's wines are Vegan-friendly.
Garzón is the first winery to be LEED Certified across their winemaking and hospitality.

History of Albariño

Originally from Galicia, Spain, the Albariño grape has traveled far to become one of the world’s most distinguished white wine varieties. In Uruguay—particularly in the Garzón region—it has found an ideal terroir that allows it to fully express its character and quality.

While some legends say Cistercian monks brought Albariño to Galicia in the 12th century, today it is firmly rooted in the northwest of Spain and northern Portugal, where it is known as Alvarinho. Its ability to thrive in coastal climates, with early budding and late ripening, makes it perfect for regions with Atlantic influence—just like Uruguay.
