Playing the Long Game: Bledsoe Wine Estates' Sustainability in Action

Bledsoe Wine Estates

Sustainability in Action

It isn’t just a philosophy we subscribe to, it’s an ongoing practice that extends well beyond just our farming.

OUR VINEYARDS

Regenerative farming leads to healthier vines, resilient vineyards, and consistent quality — reducing vintage risk for the long-term

  • All acreage is dedicated to planting native plants such as wild roses, lavender, and trees - providing an ecosystem for beneficial organisms that prevent pests
  • Converting to no-till, full-grassing to eliminate mowing, diesel usage, soil compaction, and improve water retention
  • Targeted grazing by sheep for natural weed control

OUR WINERY

We take sustainable practices beyond the vineyard to better our overall footprint

  • Solar panels power all facility buildings, including cooling in the summer
  • Transitioning to 100% recyclable craft paper in packaging & materials - impacting shipping weight, biodegradability, and overall carbon footprint
  • Transitioning to light weight bottles for recycling efficiency, & resource conservation

OUR PEOPLE

Doing better for our people and our community leads to better vine health and better wines

  • Full time vineyard team employed year-around with full benefits - ensuring long term institutional knowledge, consistency and accountability
  • We believe in giving back and donate approximately $5/case to charitable organizations such as Backpack Bridge (Walla Walla) and Family Building Blocks (Salem, OR)
  • Time for our employees to volunteer in the community

Sustainability isn’t a marketing layer for us — it’s how we protect quality, people, and long-term partnerships.
