Best Buy. Smooth, rich cherry juicy flavors from the center of this simple shiraz. Peppery, blueberry skin character adds a little tannic grip without getting in the way of the roundness. For barbecue.
There’s a healthy 8% Viognier in the blend, but this wine doesn’t come across as overtly apricotty. Instead, it delivers big blueberries and blackberries on the nose and hints of plum and cola, with just a hint of raisining. It’s full bodied—almost viscous in texture—balanced by crisp acids on the finish. Drink now-2016.
Deep, bright ruby. Lively, sharply focused dark berry and smoky aromas, with nuances of licorice and violet. Tangy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors are framed by silky tannins, showing good precision and peppery back-end lift. Youthfully tight today but I like this wine's sneaky sweetness and vivacity.

The 2008 Shiraz-Viognier (8%) was co-fermented and aged in new French barriques for 14 months. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it receives a floral lift from the Viognier. Aromas of incense, violets, Asian spices, and blueberry jump from the glass. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied with layers of spicy, succulent black fruits. Nicely balanced, it can be enjoyed now but will evolve for several years.

Vibrant and light on its feet, this is juicy and distinctive for its plum and pomegranate fruit and floral white pepper overtones, lingering on the open-textured finish against refined tannins. Drink now through 2013.
