“A focused, slightly taut style, with a good dose of singed cedar and alder framing the core of red currant, plum and bitter cherry paste flavors. Lots of bay leaf, rosemary and sanguine accents fill in on the finish, which keeps a cedary edge. For fans of the old-school style.”
“Sourced from three lieux-dits (including La Crau), Saint Cosme's 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of approximately 60% Grenache, 20-25% Mourvèdre and bits and pieces of other varieties. It's full-bodied, rich and spicy, with hints of cumin, licorice, cinnamon and clove all swirling about on the long finish.”
Château de Saint Cosme - International Wine Report
“Château de Saint Cosme is located in Gigondas, just 300 meters north of the village and is the oldest estate in Gigondas, dating back to the 15th century. This property has been in the hands of the Barruol family since 1570. The 2015 Côtes du Rhône is an absolutely sensational showing, displaying a dark and brooding color, which leads to aromatics of Provençale herbs, black cherry and cassis. Deep penetrating flavors of milk chocolate, pencil shavings and cassis give way to moderate tannins at this juncture. While simply delicious today, it would be best to allow this another year for to fully settle.”
In “A Lazy Person’s Guide to Pairing Food and Wine,” writer Hannah Loewentheil puts together a simple quiz to match everyday food with wine. When “Burger” is selected, the recommended wine is CHÂTEAU DE SAINT COSME Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2015.
