“Plump and inviting, with warm brioche and almond notes framing a core of creamed yellow apple, pear and green fig fruit flavors. The brioche accent takes and encore on the long, creamy finish. Seductive. Clairette. Drink now through 2020.”
“Barrel-fermented and aged nine months in old oak, the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Le Poste is tight, linear in structure and almost Burgundian in style. It's 100% Clairette grown in the Le Poste vineyard and features a long, briny lime-and-pineapple finish. It can be drunk now or aged up to 10 years.”
“A little bit toastier and broader than the 2016 yet still fresh, the 2015 Cotes du Rhone Le Poste features hints of melon and pineapple. It's 100% barrel-fermented Clairette from the Le Poste vineyard in Gigondas (but can't be labeled as such).”
“A more complex oak-influenced style that has a nougat-like nose with white almond, honey and ripe peach fruits. The palate delivers a chalky, almsot salty mineral core with smooth fruit flesh surrounding it. Drink now.”
Château de Saint Cosme - International Wine Report
“Château de Saint Cosme is located in Gigondas, just 300 meters north of the village and is the oldest estate in Gigondas, dating back to the 15th century. This property has been in the hands of the Barruol family since 1570. The 2015 Côtes du Rhône is an absolutely sensational showing, displaying a dark and brooding color, which leads to aromatics of Provençale herbs, black cherry and cassis. Deep penetrating flavors of milk chocolate, pencil shavings and cassis give way to moderate tannins at this juncture. While simply delicious today, it would be best to allow this another year for to fully settle.”
In “A Lazy Person’s Guide to Pairing Food and Wine,” writer Hannah Loewentheil puts together a simple quiz to match everyday food with wine. When “Burger” is selected, the recommended wine is CHÂTEAU DE SAINT COSME Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2015.
“Vibrant, mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of white flowers and ginger. Juicy, focused and pure, offering vibrant orange, pear skin and white peach flavors underscored by a chalky mineral element. Becomes deeper and fleshier with air white maintaining vivacity, and finishes with excellent clarity, power and persistence.”
