Allegrini

Allegrini_VdT_night
The Allegrini family has been handing down grape growing and wine producing traditions over many generations, playing a major role in the Valpolicella Classico area for many centuries. Giovanni Allegrini was the founder of the new generation: He was extremely proud to be part of the Valpolicella, and dedicated his many resources and energies to this land. He was among the first to question local viticultural techniques, to revolutionize accepted practices, and to speak clearly about quality.

Allegrini’s winemaking philosophy is largely based on the concept of ‘cru’ production: a single vineyard dedicated to th e production of local varieties destined to become a single wine.

"The best-known of the new generation of Amarone labels, this is the one that has attracted the most international recognition. It’s solid, reliable, and ages well. It is, above all, a great red in which the usual alcoholic power of the Amarone is well-integrated into a balanced structure. The tannins are sweet and soft, acidity is not excessive and wood is used wisely."
ero Rosso - February 2007

     Allegrini_Marilisa Producer Headshot

Marilisa Allegrini was introduced to the wine business at a very early age by her father, Giovanni, an accomplished winemaker in the Valpolicella region. After receiving a degree in Physical Therapy, Marilisa accepted position at a well-regarded practice, but her lifelong passion for wine ultimately drew her back to the family business, where her brothers Walter and Franco were already working. In 1980, Marilisa was put in charge of sales and marketing, and she immediately analyzed the problems and opportunities in the marketplace, and articulated clear objectives.

In the early 80’s, one of her main challenges was convincing consumers that Valpolicella and Amarone were great wines--no easy task at the time.  She traveled throughout Italy and the world, sharing the story of Valpolicella’s winemaking heritage and her family’s wines.  Her travels heightened her passion for wine, and helped cement the reputation of Amarone as one of the world’s finest wines and Allegrini as one of its top producers.
