Wine Description
This very special wine is produced from 10-year-old vines in the via Bolgherese vineyard. A pure 100% Cabernet Franc aged entirely in new French barriques for 18 months, W (the nickname for Dedicato a Walter) is a top-class wine, opulent, complex, yet polished and stylish. Dedicated to Marilisa's late brother, Walter, W is a wine that no Cabernet lover should be without.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red in color, extremely concentrated and rich, W seamlessly combines ultra-ripe aromas of blackberry, strawberry and currant with spicy notes of licorice, chocolate and smoke, offering complexity of flavors and aromas. Its lucious texture is framed by sweet, chewy, fine grained tannins. W is the wine of choice for rich fare such as steak, filet mignon, pot roast, game and casseroles.

“The 2006 Dedicato a Walter (Cabernet Franc) is a massive offering packed with ripe, dark fruit. Today the wine is incredibly dense and fruit-driven, with little of the aromatic complexity that makes Cabernet Franc in Maremma so compelling. Structurally the wine is very refined, and all this bottle needs is a few years in the cellar to incorporate its 100% new oak and for its inner perfume to emerge. This is another highly promising effort from Poggio al Tesoro.”
