Vermentino Solosole IGT Toscana 2008

Wine Description

This unique Vermentino is named Solosole ("only sun" in Italian) because only the sun is allowed to influence its aromas: there is no blending with other grapes, nor wood aging to interfere with the pure flavors of Vermentino. The grapes, picked at their ideal ripeness when they are golden yellow in color, are stored overnight at 45 degrees F, and crushed the next day to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit aromas typical of the variety.

Tasting Notes

Solosole offers delicate aromas of acacia flowers, apricot and banana. The vibrant acidity frames the fruity flavors and lingers pleasantly on the finish. This is the wine of choice for seafood antipasti, pasta with shellfish, omelettes, soft goat cheese, fish dishes and vegetables.

Tuscany 2006 and 2007: A New Golden Age
“The aromatics take center stage, and the wine possesses a touch less fat, with a personality that seems more typical of Alto Adige than the Tuscan coast. Lime peel, petrol, and flowers emerge from this fresh, perfumed, Riesling-like Vermentino. The Solosole also happens to be a great value.”
