Monteriolo Piemonte Chardonnay DOC 2006

Wine Description

A delicious 100% Chardonnay grown in calcareous marl soil, and barrel-fermented for extra creaminess and refinement. Monteriolo is matured in French oak for seven months before it is refined, filtered and bottled.

Tasting Notes

Bright yellow with golden hues, Monteriolo offers juicy flavors of ripe pineapple and melon, followed by pure, fragrant aromas of vanilla, caramel and chamomile. On the palate, the bright acidity balances the supple tropical fruit flavors. A rich finish lingers with a hint of tangerine. Recommended with rich pastas, quiches, omelettes and grilled white meats. It is also superb with grilled or baked salmon.

Piedmont Comes of Age
“[I]s a very pretty, fresh Chardonnay with plenty of varietal character intermingled with sweet scents of French oak. In 2006 the … Monteriolo offers excellent balance and a clean, refined finish.”
