Mondaccione DOC 2005

Wine Description

Mondaccione is made from 100% Freisa, a local Piemontese grape variety known for producing wines with fresh acidity, strawberry and red fruit flavors and firm tannins. It is believed to have originated in the hills between Turin and Asti.

Tasting Notes

Ruby-red in color, this wine offers a bouquet of spice and pepper, with intense notes of prunes and wild fruits. Moderately tannic and full-bodied, this wine pairs well with red meats, aged cheeses and antipasti (a particular Piemontese favorite with anchovies, garlic, parsley and olive oil). Serve at 64 degrees Fahrenheit and enjoy while it is young.
