L'Avvocata Barbera d'Asti DOC 2008

Wine Description

Made from 100% Barbera d'Asti grown in vineyards near the commune of Canelli, where clay and chalky soils predominate. Harvested in early September, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in large French oak casks for 6-8 months. Refined in bottle for several months, L’Avvocata is ready to be enjoyed upon release.

Tasting Notes

Ruby-red in color, L’Avvocata offers classic Barbera aromas of ripened cherries and strawberries. On the palate the wine is round and full-bodied with a spicy finish of cola and ripe berries. L’Avvocata is the perfect choice for rich pasta with meat sauces, roast beef, kebabs, baby back ribs and medium-aged cheeses.

“Italy's Finest Values”
“The 2008 Barbera d'Asti L'Avvocata shows excellent balance in what is proving to be a challenging harvest in Piedmont. Dried cherries, flowers and tobacco are some of the nuances to be found in this mid-weight, accessible Barbera.”

Buying Guide
“L’Avvocata delivers a linear and correct approach with balanced fruit tones opposite fresh acidity. You’ll recognize aromas of wild berry, blueberry and cherry and the close is capped by a slight pinch of fizziness.”
