Wine Description
The owner of the vineyard that grew the Barbera grapes for this wine had brilliant red hair, thus the reference in Piedmontese dialect to the "rouss" or "place of the red headed one."This wine is made from 100% Barbera d'Asti grown in select hillside vineyards and harvested in September. After fermentation, a small batch (20%) of the wine is aged in new barriques for a period of 12 months, which adds extra smoothness and complexity.
Tasting Notes
Camp du Rouss is deep ruby-red in color with garnet highlights. It offers concentrated aromas of crushed black cherry and wild berry jam, followed by notes of leather and herbs, with a hint of smokiness. On the palate, the supple layers of fruit are backed by Barbera's trademark acidity making it the ideal food wine. Recommended with meat in rich wine or tomato sauces, roast beef, cured meats and medium-aged cheese.

Buying Guide
“Slights hints of smoked meat and toasted nut open the aromatic parameters of this vibrant Barbera d’Asti. There’s plenty of berry fruit at the base as well as natural crispness, but those warmer aromas help soften the acidic blow.”
