Wine Description
Primitivo is one of the oldest grapes in Puglia. Monks introduced the varietal to the region in the beginning of the 1800s and it was most likely imported from Croatia. Primitivo can only be trained in the alberello method and has naturally low yields. Because of the exposition and altitutes of the Botromagno vineyards, their Primitivo has a personality distinct from other Puglian Primitivos.
Tasting Notes
It is a brilliant and intense ruby-red with hints of violet. On the nose, one finds aromas of black cherries, vanilla, cinnamon, sage, mint and tobacco. On the palate it is soft and enveloping with medium acidity. To be enjoyed with salumi, aged cheeses, grilled meats and fowl.

June’s 2009 100 Top Values
“This feel completely Mediterranean in its energetic mix of lusty flavors like black fig, plum and green olives. The flavors lengthen with air, a balance between juicy sweetness and an iron-like minerality."
