Argiolas

S'elegas Nuragus di Cagliari DOC 2010

Wine Description

Made from 100% Nuragus, a native variety grown in the hillside area of Trexenta, at almost 2,000 feet above sea level. Nuragus is also the name of the ancient mortarless stone huts that can be found throughout Sardinia.  An image of a single nuragus graces the label. These well-ventilated vineyards are composed of limestone with certain areas of clay. Following a gentle pressing of the grapes, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh Mediterranean character.

Tasting Notes

Pale lemon in color, this wine offers classic nutty notes in addition to supple aromas of peach, citrus, green apple and Mediterranean herbs. Its mineral character is unmistakable. S’elegas is an excellent accompaniment to shellfish, calamari, olives and grilled chicken with thyme.
