Wine Description
Son Negre is a dark, rich wine with an island soul. Made from a blend of Callet, and a touch of Mantonegre-Fogoneu, the wine is aged for over a year in tightly grained French oak barrels. "Son Negre" means "Dark Place" because of the way in which the sun bakes the soil.
Tasting Notes
Dark ruby in color, with hints of purple, this wine offers aromas of violets, tobacco, black cherry, and black raspberry. Extremely rich, layered, and long on the finish.

Spain 2010: Let the Good Times Roll
“The 2005 Son Negré is sourced from the estate’s oldest vineyards with the lowest yields. Made of a blend of Callet and Mantonegro-Fogoneu aged for 19 months in new French barriques, it shows off a compelling nose of toasty oak, mineral, Asian spices, lavender, black cherry, and black raspberry. Rich, long, and built for pleasure, it will continue to blossom for another 3-4 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2020 if not longer.”

Spain: The Beat Goes On
"The 2005 Son Negre is 95% Callet and 5% Mantonegre-Fogoneu sourced from a single vineyard and aged for 17 months in new French oak. Dark ruby/purple in color, it has an expressive perfume of pain grille, violets, tobacco, black cherry, and black raspberry that leaps from the glass. Super-rich, layered, and very long, it cleverly conceals enough tannin to support 3-5 years of evolution in the bottle. It should show its best stuff by 2015 and drink well through 2025."
