Altesino

Alte d'Altesi IGT Toscana 2008

Wine Description

Alte d'Altesi is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes hand-harvested from the prestigious Montosoli vineyard. Approximately one-third of the grapes undergo carbonic maceration, whereas the remaining receive an extended maceration period of twelve days followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. To provide further elegance, Alte d'Altesi is aged in Allier barriques for approximately one year. The final wine is modern and unique: a monovarietal Sangiovese crafted to stylistically be a Super-Tuscan.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby-red in color, this wine showcases aromas of dried cherry, earthiness, violets and leather. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and perfectly structured with persistent red berry flavors.  A few from many pairing suggestions for Alte d'Altesi might include roast pork tenderloin, roast wild game or hearty beef casseroles, but the possibilities are endless!

Wine Advocate
“The 2007 Alte di Altesi is Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and roughly equal parts. Sweet scents of tobacco, spices, licorice and French oak flow from the glass effortlessly. The effects of the warm vintage come through in the forward, advanced quality of the fruit, which suggests that ideally the Alte di Altesi is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.”
