Fabio Zardetto
Owner and Chief Winemaker

Fabio Zardetto was born in the charming town of Conegliano, in the region of Veneto. He graduated with honors from the Enology School of Conegliano, one of the oldest and most prestigious enology schools in the world.  His experimental thesis examined sparkling wines, a theme that was relatively unexplored at the university at that time.   And so, at an early age, Fabio set the stage for his future career in the wine business.

After studying Chemistry at the University of Venice, Fabio returned to the Veneto to follow his father Pino (already a well-known producer of sparkling Prosecco wines) into the family’s winemaking business.  In addition to his responsibilities at Zardetto, Fabio held the position of Manager of the Consortium of “Prosecco di Conegliano” from 1982 to 1995. In that role, he was in charge of the promotion of Prosecco wines in general.  The position enabled him to gain valuable international experience and to hone his spoken English, as he traveled throughout Europe and the U.S.A making important industry contacts.

In 1998, Fabio became the sole owner of the Zardetto winery, initiating an exciting new era in the company’s development.   He has implemented several new technological improvements that have further enhanced the quality and flavor of his family’s wines, further adding to the estate’s impeccable international reputation.
